Event description

Bikes and hot chips. Hot chips and bikes. Add some lights, and enjoy a social activity with good people, Lake Burley Griffin, and tasty hot chips on cool evening.

If you're new to Canberra, this ride will help you get your bearings in one of the few national capitals whose basic layout was thanks to an international design competition (won by Marion Mahony Griffin and Walter Burley Griffin).

This ride involves rolling to the Fish Shack on Bunda Street, ordering enough for everyone, devouring the goodies, then rolling clockwise around Lake Burley Griffin's central basin via car-free Wendouree Drive. (Pretend you're in the Netherlands and hold hands with someone you care about. They call that a typical day in the Netherlands)

Then over the Commonwealth Ave Bridge, along the newish boardwalk in the west basin through the ANU campus, across Barry Drive through the bike path in Haig Park and beside Sullivans Creek, before finishing at Flatheads at the Duxton Hotel, O'Connor shops.

Donations for the hot chips are welcome, if you can afford it. If you can't, roll and eat with us anyway. We welcome all people on all cycles. Our only requirement is that your freedom machine must have brakes. (And lights if you can afford them too).
