Hot/Cold Composting: A practical workshop with Dr Compost
Event description
Find out how easy it is to build a 3-bay compost system using wooden pallets and learn how to make a hot compost pile with Dr Compost.
Dr Compost, aka Ben Elms, has been gardening and composting locally for over 20 years. In this workshop he'll cover composting ingredients (carbon/nitrogen), cold composting, food scraps, garden materials, bokashi, worms and leaf mould. Bring gloves if you'd like to get involved.
It is an outdoor event held at Grow Wānaka, so dress very warmly and bring a camp chair. Feel free to bring any surplus composting materials.
Grow Wānaka is a new community garden, diverting food scraps from landfill and using them to build healthy soil and grow nutritious kai.
Space is limited so please register for your free ticket to attend the workshop.
The Dr Compost home-composting project is funded by Queenstown Lakes District Council and delivered by Wastebusters to reduce organic waste in landfill.
