Join performing artist, writer, maker and director Ghenoa Gela in a three-day masterclass of STORYTELLING AND THE BODY, for First Nations artists at WXYZ Studios this August.

Award-winning, multi-disciplinary and multi-dimensional storyteller Ghenoa Gela is a proud Koedal – Aubaith Clan Wagadagam, Mualgal Poid and Aragan, Samsep and Peidu woman. Originally born on Darumbal Country CQ - Rockhampton, Ghenoa’s ever growing skill base stems from her solid foundation as a Traditional Torres Strait Islander dancer, storyteller and musician. From this strength, Ghenoa’s fierce cultural values of visibility in the broad western landscape is at the forefront of her artistic vision and practice.

STORYTELLING AND THE BODY will be unpacking Ghenoa’s methodologies of versatile pathways for performance. Examining the relationship to movement, to the work and to the audience.

This is a three-day workshop for First Nations artists only.

Training in dance and/or theatre is recommended. Traditional/Cultural dancers and/or Storytellers are also encouraged to register.

It is free to participate, registration is essential.
