Yanou's first encounter with the Ballroom culture has been in 2012 when he met Lasseindra in a house music club in Paris. Already trained into Street dances culture at the Juste Debout School (best hip hop school in the world), Yanou's category in the Ballroom scene became Old way, the first performance form of Voguing.
In 2013 Yanou was adopted by the Iconic House of Ninja and since then he walks balls and wins many trophies - Paris, Amsterdam, Tokyo, London, New York, Milan, Stockholm, Rotterdam, Miami, Berlin, Orlando, Düsseldorf..
Beside Yanou's achievements in the Ballroom Scene he has performed for brands like Hermès, Lancôme, Vogue Magazine, Valentino, Rick Owens, Vivienne Westwood, Adidas, Dior and has been working with choreographers like Zack Reece, Nicolas Huchard Parris Goebel, Kyf, I could never be a dancer, Dafne Bianchi, Bgirl Val and Alex Mugler.
Nowadays Yanou performed on TV sets with mainstream artists or theaters with dance companies and museums as much as in the clubs for DJs. He also judges and teaches worldwide. He is involved in different projects in Europe and works for different dance compagnies using his background in other dance styles. His Old Way, as his unique signature style, influences all of his performances. Deemed Legendary by Icon Jack Gorgeous Gucci in 2022 Yanou keeps having a feet in the Ballroom scene while navigating everywhere he wanna go.
Old way was started by Paris Dupree in Rikers Island in the early to mid 70s. One of the first dance styles of the ballroom culture, which references magazine poses and inspired by martial arts movements. This style of voguing focuses on symmetry, lines, and precision. It didn’t become Old Way till the late 80s early 90s when New way came on the scene.
