Event description

Set in the House Planet, the Labratorians (Goodforya Greenview, Gordon Touchmore and Zooy Ava) have experimented with an emotions machine, which explodes and have been transported into a plant world where the evil and irritating ruler "Carwoot Orang" is terrorizing the people of plant world. His second in command "Varnasey Orvixen" (Half plant/Half human) decides to organise a coup d'état in which the travelers are not happy to do. Before the plan can be enacted, the Laboritorians are rescued by some people from the House Planet who have accidentally discovered the portal.

Meanwhile the explosion from the machine has caused chaos in the House Planet, Fridgelandia, Loungeroomia and Scrubtopia all have suffered different crises from what they thought was a "Big Bang". From displacement, lost loves, and the great plug unable to be pulled as the water rises, each land must face their challenges of recovery as they face the big questions. How can we recover? What do these reactions to the situations say about us as people? and Do we ever really recover? The ending as the truth of the 'Big Bang" is revealed will have you marveling at the imaginations of children and the endless possibilities of us all as they rise to the challenge of their discovery of recovery!

Tuggeranong Arts Centre and Mr Tim Enterprises are proud to present House Planet: A Discovery of Recovery (The Musical). The Children's Musical program, led by Tim and Nathalie Bevitt, is a year-long program where children learn the fundamental skills of building an original musical theatre production. They learn about acting, writing, set and costume design, singing and choreography. This hands-on program also seeks to explore themes and issues that are important to the young participants. This year, the theme of recovery has been led by Tim and Nathalie, with supporting artists Daniel Streatfield and Chelsea Heaney (Acting Coaches) as well as Canberra visual artists Hanna Hoyne (Costume Design) and Ed Radclyffe (Set and Properties Design).
