Housing and Homelessness Forum
Description
After Wilks Park: Where are we now?
The tents are gone. But has the housing crisis changed?
After the clear-out of Wilks Park, where are we now?
What has changed for the people who were living there? Where are people living now? What happens to the next person who has nowhere safe to go? And, most importantly, what are we going to do about it?
The housing crisis in Wagga hasn't gone away because people have been moved on. In fact, the pressure continues to grow.
We'll talk about:
Where are we now?
What is happening with emergency, transitional and long-term housing?
What support are we giving people leaving jail?
What can we do differently as a community?
How can government, business and community organisations work together?
What needs to happen next?
This isn't another forum to talk about homelessness and then go home. It's an opportunity to listen, connect, challenge the status quo and identify actions we can take. Because moving people on isn't the same as moving people forward.
Housing is a human right. Let's work out what that means in practice.
Everyone is welcome.
