Understanding the Role of Social Identities in Health Care Provision with Pam Nath, PhD

This workshop will provide a challenging but supportive look at the ways that dominant and marginalized social identities impact the practitioner/patient relationship as well as the dynamics of the office team. The ways that race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, (dis)ability, socioeconomic status, language, age can create blind spots and limit authentic communication will be explored. Guidelines for building trust and authentic relationships across differences will be presented.
