How nutrition can affect our health and mental wellbeing
Event description
Communities at Work's Galilee School invites you to attend our next In The Know session on how nutrition can affect our health and mental wellbeing. In the Know is an information series for parents and guardians at the school and other families at Communities at Work to address and promote positive messages in the community, focused on young people's mental and social well-being.Â
Topic
Did you know that what your children eat may be affecting how they feel and their overall mental health? So how do you get your children to eat more healthy foods? How can you improve your own health and well-being? The Mad Food Science Program by The Root Cause is designed to help your children to start making better food choices.Â
In this parent information session, we will share with you the unique language that we use with children so that you can use the same language at home. That may help to reduce the battles that can come with trying to encourage healthier choices for your children!Â
What you'll learn
- The key messages given to children doing the program
- How food can affect how you feel
- About additives and preservatives
- How to understand food labels
- The significance of sugar
- Food and mental health
- How to eat healthy food on a budget
- How making better food choices also benefits our planet
Join Justine, a Nutritionist and Environmental Scientist, for an informative and thought-provoking evening. There will be lots of time for questions and discussion at the end of our time together.Â
