The Refugee Council of Australia invites you to an expert seminar on how states can promote refugee protection in Southeast Asia. This event can be attended either in-person or online.

Hear from regional experts on how donor states can support host states in Southeast Asia to improve refugee protection and participate in the launch of the ADSP Expert Commentary.

There are approximately 3.8 million refugees, people seeking asylum and stateless people in Southeast Asia, most of whom have no protection or access to the most basic needs of healthcare, education, work rights or a permanent solution to their displacement. Learn from refugees in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia about the current challenges they face, and hear from experts about how States can utilise their aid, diplomacy and partnerships to work with neighbours to promote refugee protection in the region.

Speakers are Dr Asher Hirsch, Senior Policy Officer at the Refugee Council of Australia and author of the ADSP Expert Commentary, Hafsar Tameesuddin and Klaus Dik Nielsen, Co-Secretaries of the Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network. The seminar will be chaired by Paul Power, CEO of the Refugee Council of Australia.
