How to Adult 101

Thinking about leaving home, but unsure where to start? Join STEM Fast Track for a practical one-day workshop designed for 18*–28* year olds.

We’ll explore the three sides of preparing to live independently:

1. Financial: How much should you save before moving out? What upfront and ongoing costs should you plan for? Learn practical ways to budget and manage your money.

2. Emotional: Moving out changes relationships with family, friends and housemates. Explore how to communicate, set boundaries and handle disagreements—especially if you plan to share a home with friends.

3. Physical: What do you actually need to set up a home? Make a list of essentials, decide what can wait, and explore where to find items affordably, whether new, second-hand or borrowed.

Please wear neat casual clothing. A notebook and pen will be provided.

A light lunch of sandwiches, plus coffee, tea and hot chocolate, will be provided.
