In addition, Electra Business Breakfast has always absorbed GST and Humanitix fees when booking online. From February 2024, Humanitix fees will be passed on at checkout (5% + 0.49c + GST = $2.81) and we will continue to absorb GST. At this time, there will be no increase to the ticket cost of $39 – thanks for understanding.

Liam McLeavey is an award-winning leader, who has dedicated his life to unleashing the potential of people, organisations and communities.

Dissatisfied with Horowhenua having one of New Zealand’s highest youth unemployment rates at 25.9%, in 2014 Liam established what is now known as Get-Go, Horowhenua’s youth employment platform. Between 2014 and 2021, he worked deeply at the interface of young people, employers, and the education and welfare systems – raising over $800,000 of investment to drive initiatives which have engaged thousands and supported many into employment. Nearly a decade later, Horowhenua’s youth unemployment rate is now 14.5% – the lowest since records began.

Liam’s background is suited to his role as the Deputy Board Chair of the Board of Student Job Search (SJS). SJS is the largest student employment platform in Aotearoa and since 1982, it has connected talent with over 1 million jobs. More than a job-board, SJS are early career partners. SJS’s students and graduates have energy, optimism and bucket-loads of talent, adding immense value to employers – and SJS sit at the centre of that connection.

Alongside his role at SJS, Liam is a Senior Consultant at PwC New Zealand, supporting clients across the public, private and community sectors in the areas of strategy, operations, transformation and social equity.

Liam was acknowledged by the Horowhenua community with a formal Certificate of Recognition at the 2021 Horowhenua District Council Civic Honours Ceremony.

Work Ready Kāpiti is a Charitable Trust founded in 2015 that delivers free initiatives and programmes that support Kāpiti rangatahi aged 15-24 to become work ready and transition confidently into the workforce. They currently deliver three core programmes:

WEX – a work experience programme that is tailored to rangatahi and employers’ individual needs.
#EmployerMeet events – speed meet style events that connect local employers and youth in a fun and relaxed environment.
Kāpiti Work Ready Passport – a workbook-based programme developed to support rangatahi to develop and evidence the work ready skills that local employers are seeking.

All Work Ready Kāpiti programmes are free to access and open to all youth and employers in the region.
