Communities in Action - How to Chair a meeting
Event description
The chairperson is key to ensuring an effective and efficient meeting. This is designed for any role responsible for facilitating a meeting, whether in the workplace, community, or board room. In this one-hour workshop learn tips and tricks for running a successful meeting, such as:
- Role and responsibilities of a chairing a meeting
- Types of meetings and documents
- How to ensure all members of the meeting are engaged in an equitable way (both reserved and dominant attendees)
- Leading the decision-making process
- Focusing the conversation (if it gets off-track)
- Resolving conflict and differing opinions
- Overcoming conscious and unconscious bias
Facilitated by Steven Moe, who is both a Rolleston local and a partner in Parry Field Lawyers which has a Selwyn office. He is a director of seven entities and is chair of Community Finance which has raised $120 million for social housing. He is a member of the Charities Services Sector group, the XRB Advisory Panel and hosts a podcast on governance, leadership and entrepreneurship called ‘Seeds’. He is also the host of “Board Matters” podcast on governance for the Institute of Directors.
