HOW TO CREATE: THE ART AND SCIENCE OF CREATIVITY FOR DESIGNERS

  • Creativity is the driving force behind new designs and innovation.
  • But how does creativity work? How might we apply the art and science of creativity to be better designers?

In this program you will learn how to systematically apply the art and science of creativity to be a better designer.

Brought to you by David Spear, Principal of Spearhead Strategic Design and Innovation and Founder of the Geelong Design Leaders Forum (GDLF), you will learn the basic neuroscience of creativity and how to apply it to the design process to amplify the volume and quality of your new ideas!

  • You will deepen your understanding of how creativity works, build your confidence leading and participating in creative activities, and add new skills to your 'creative toolbox'.
  • You will be coached and supported to explore and apply techniques for increasing your creativity, and how to systematically apply these in the design process to improve your performance and impact.

Creativity is in high demand, identified by the World Economic Forum as the number one skill increasing in importance between 2023 and 2027. As customers, businesses, communities and governments around the world scramble to find solutions to new and emerging challenges and opportunities, creativity plays a crucial role fuelling new designs and innovation.

  • Join us in this program to set yourself up for success, by building your creative confidence!

Suitable for emerging and experienced designers, artists, innovators, entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs who may be working in for-profit or not-for-profit environments… this program aims to systematically build and extend your capacity to apply creativity, fuelling your new ideas and innovations.

David has successfully trained, coached, and mentored hundreds of businesses to support their success, including recent clients at Deakin University's ManuFutures National Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Hub, and the Victorian Transport Accident Commission, the Committee for Geelong's Leaders for Geelong program, and one of Geelong's leading environmental organisations, Geelong Sustainability.

So, if you’re a designer, artists, innovator, entrepreneur or intrapreneur looking to level up your creative game... you won't want to miss this session!

This event is part of Geelong Design Week 2024, an initiative of Geelong UNESCO City of Design and the City of Greater Geelong. With over 60 events, this year’s program is shaping up to be the biggest and most exciting yet, featuring a diverse range of events and experiences that celebrate innovation, creativity, and community, showcasing why Geelong is Australia’s only City of Design.
