Want to raise funds for a cause you care about—but not sure where to start?
This workshop is for artists, creatives, and community members who want to support others through grassroots fundraising, and are looking for practical tools and ethical grounding. Whether you’re raising money for gender-affirming care, humanitarian aid, or crisis support in your community—this session is for you.
We’ll hear from a panel of organisers who’ve fundraised in a range of contexts—from refugee camps to medical mutual aid. Together, we’ll explore what it means to ask for money with deep care, especially when urgency, vulnerability, and difference are in the room.
We’ll cover:
How to start a fundraiser with transparency and accountability
Making sure 100% of funds reach where they need to go
Choosing platforms, payment systems, and methods that align with your values
How to work with venues, collaborators, and sponsors that reflect your ethics
Being clear on your mission—and communicating it to your community
Navigating emotional labour, urgency, and burnout with care
This session is especially for those new to fundraising who want to do it thoughtfully and with integrity. Whether you’ve never run a fundraiser before or just want to deepen your approach—you’re welcome here.
Presented as part of OFFICE HOURS at Unassigned Gallery. 7 days of hands-on workshops, skill sharing and knowledge building for creatives.
