Stonewall Collective - 2025 Code of Conduct

Purpose

Stonewall is a private collective that embraces and supports the LGBTQ+ community by offering opportunities for self-expression, education, and the cultivation of a sense of belonging. Stonewall endeavors to foster a diverse and vibrant community where LGBTQ+ creatives support one another, exchange ideas, and collaborate. For any event, lab, or activity organized or facilitated by Stonewall, we are dedicated to ensuring a safe and inclusive and positive experience for all, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, physical appearance, body size, professional experience & education (or lack of), ability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, religion (or lack of), and other personal factors and decisions.

Expected Behavior

For the successful execution of events, it is essential to have a moderator who can introduce the space, review the Code of Conduct, answer questions, and ensure that the area is cleared and sanitized upon conclusion. Engage in meaningful and active participation to contribute to this community's overall health and sustainability. Abstain from engaging in behavior or speech that is demeaning, discriminatory, coercive, or harassing. Refrain from making assumptions about an individual's pronouns, gender, or sexual orientation, as well as their technical or professional expertise.

To cultivate a harmonious environment for all occupants, it is essential to address any external conflicts that may arise, outside the building premises. Resolving conflicts off-site can often lead to more constructive and amicable resolutions, as it provides a neutral ground for dialogue and negotiation. Be mindful to minimize conversations outside the studio while on site, including interactions with our sociable landlord and other tenants. We are striving to maintain a positive atmosphere within the building, allowing all building occupants to focus on their tasks or enjoy their surroundings without unnecessary disruptions. Please park on the street and avoid using parking lots, even if they are not full. Keep attire worn outside the studio space suitable for individuals of all ages.

Privacy

Outing of our members to facets of their vanilla lives will not be tolerated. Such behavior warrants immediate ejection of membership from Stonewall including but not limited to event attendance and discord privilege and social media blocking. Before capturing and sharing community content elsewhere, it is necessary to obtain consent. Please verify if attribution or anonymity is necessary. All individuals involved must give their enthusiastic and informed consent. Please do not share addresses or other elements that could potentially identify the building. Stonewall Collective's address will be sent by moderators to attendees for individual events and labs. It is ok to tag “StonewallMN” on social media.

Unacceptable Behavior.

Individuals are responsible to know and follow Stonewall's Code of Conduct, and MN laws. If an activity seems questionable, ask first. Restricted activities include:

No minors allowed in the studio at any time. Stonewall reserves the right to verify identification and refuse entry at any event for any reason.
Those under 21 are prohibited from using intoxicants per MN laws. The consumption of alcohol to the point of impairment while on the premises is not permitted.
Stonewall’s policy is that "maybe" is not equivalent to consent and should be interpreted as a “no”. Meaningful consent is not possible if a person is asked repeatedly, physically blocked or intimidated in any way. Violating the stoplight system of consent is prohibited.
No prostitution or activity as defined in MN Statute 609.321 PROSTITUTION AND SEX TRAFFICKING.
No production of non-art, pornographic material as defined in MN statute 617.241 OBSCENE MATERIALS AND PERFORMANCES
Cannot promote or encourage activity that can be construed as dangerous as defined in Subd. 2. Liability limited of MN statute 604A.40
Cannot engage in activities that could be disruptive or disturbing to others in the building, including minors who are in the public areas and shop.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Everyone is responsible for following the Code of Conduct and reporting violations when they happen. Moderators and administrators bear the responsibility for addressing violations. Any directly reported unacceptable conduct will be promptly addressed, and efforts to rectify the situation will be pursued. Moderators will note the incident and inform the collective admin team. Actions include but are not limited to temporary and permanent event bans and ejection from the Discord on a case-by-case basis.

When something happens.

If you suspect a violation of the CoC, we ask that you reach out to a moderator for assistance. Your intervention is not necessary.

Directions to our studio

First and foremost: DO NOT WALK INTO THE SHOP THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR OF THE BUILDING.

The address is 2800 Washington Ave N but the entrance of our studio is on 28th Ave N, which is also where you should park. You will see a door along on the side of the building up a few stairs. To the left of the door is a white doorbell with a blue button. Ring it, and we’ll come down and let you in. Our studio is private but we share parts of the building with other tenants and our landlord. Be friendly. If asked, say “I’m here for class”.
