Description

Are you considering using fire on your property?

This practical workshop will help landholders understand the role of fire in integrated land management and the key steps involved in planning a safe and effective burn. Learn how to assess fuel hazards, define burn objectives, understand legislative responsibilities and permits, and build confidence to make informed fire management decisions for your property.

Highlights of this workshop:
  • Understanding fuels, weather and fire behaviour

  • Deciding where and when to burn

  • Planning a burn safely and effectively

  • Legal requirements, permits and landholder responsibilities

  • Equipment, resources and people needed for a burn

Attendees will take part in an interactive walk and talk through a local vegetated area, where they will observe fuel conditions, identify potential hazards, and discuss practical fire management strategies in a hands-on, on-ground setting.

Participants will be required to drive to the selected site for this workshop.
