Evelyn L Calaunan has spent her life in service to others—first in the skies as an international flight attendant, then a Blue Mountains tour operator in Australia, and for the past 17 years, as a trusted funeral celebrant. Since 2008, she has helped guide hundreds of families through the tender and often overwhelming experience of planning a farewell.
Her passion for people and detail was born in the travel and hospitality industry, but it found its true calling after the sudden death of her father in 1997. Witnessing how things can go wrong during such a pivotal moment in a family’s life sparked a deep desire to help others navigate this path with more clarity and care.
How to Plan a Funeral is Evelyn’s debut book—years in the making, and written with heartfelt intention. Compassionate, practical, and grounded in real-world experience, this guide answers the most common questions families ask and gently supports them through one of life’s most vulnerable chapters.
With a career dedicated in making people feel safe, seen, and supported, Evelyn continues to honour lives—one story, one ceremony, and now, one book at a time.
