    Event description

Join us at The Book Cow on a quest to a brighter future for the whole blinkin’ planet!

Climate communicators Joe Duggan (ANU) and Lee Constable - author of How to Save the Whole Blinkin' Planet will discuss the ins and outs of talking about climate with audiences young and old. And introduce main character Captain Killowatt and how imagineering, humour and fun can help kids connect with climate topics.

Engaging TV host and science communicator Lee Constable will share more about her latest kids book, while Joe will share his research on the topic of science and climate communication.

Joining Lee is Joe Duggan, a program manager, researcher and science communicator. He has worked with communities and organisations to codevelop engaging science communication content and build capacity in STEM engagement. His research focusses on cross cultural communication and Sense of Place. Joe is also the creator and co-ordinator of ‘Is This How You Feel?’ A project designed to engage the general public with the human side of climate change.

Kids are more than welcome for this "in conversation..." event and book signings will be offered after the discussion and audience Q&A.

    About the author:

Lee Constable is a science and sustainability presenter and edu-tainer. She is best known for hosting Network 10 kids’ science TV show Scope. Growing up on her family’s sheep farm in rural New South Wales during severe drought inspired Lee to pursue her interest in science, climate and the environment in a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science (Honours).

From spending evenings as an Education Ranger with a spotlight in hand showing school groups the plants and animals of the Australian National Botanic Gardens to spending days showing kids around ACT's landfill and recycling sorting facility, there's no environment too hot, cold, dark or smelly to warrant some youth-friendly scientific communication. Lee regularly presents Instagram and Tiktok explainer videos for her own channels as well as other organisations and works as an MC and freelance science and sustainability communicator. In her spare time, she enjoys scuba diving and delivering science-y stand-up comedy routines as her Drag King alter ego Milton MANgo. You can find Lee constantly babbling on all social media platforms as @Constababble.
