JOHN SEED: Howard Eynon is a guitarist, songwriter and bard. He hosted my deep ecology weekends down at Bruny Island, Tasmania in February and I had the privelege and delight to hear his virtuoso guitar playing and utterly fantastic and original songs. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it was one of the most enthralling musical experiences of my life so I'm delighted to announce that I was able to persuade him to do a gig at the village when he's passing this way next month.

I asked him for some info to share with you and here is what he sent me:

1974 my first and only Album "so what if im standing in apricot jam" was produced at Spectangle Productions in Hobart

1975 the Stones toured Oz for the first time. I was doing gigs in Melbourne that year and they were staying at Montsalvat near Eltham.

In a radio interview that week, Jagger was asked one of those inane questions, what would they like to do while in Australia. Jagger replied they might go to Tasmania to check out the apricot jam.

We had no promotion or anything for the album but it crept around the world and would turn up in unexpected places.

2013. album was re-released in Australia and NZ by Melbourne vinyl aficionado, Scotti Campbell-Henthorn under his Buttercup Records label.

2014 - re-released by Fire Records in the UK under the Earth label for rest of the world

2015 - toured the UK, France Netherlands Spain and Portugal

2017 - played a few gigs in the US - the HEART festival in Tidewater Oregon, San Francisco and Seattle.

Throughout the long gap period of ‘making a buck so I can go back to music’, I kept on writing stuff and a guitar was alway in reach. I never took the traditional Muso path. My gigs are more kind of story time.

So after waking up to the realisation that this is where my attention must go until I drop off the perch, I returned to making music which wasn’t so easy at my age. But for some reason it’s become more doable and real as the years passed.

I’ve written and recorded a bunch of songs over the past years and expect I'll release an album for the sheer fun of closing the chapter.

I haven’t taken easily to the digital world and remain pretty much an analogue Luddite, so you won’t find much online about me.

I have a fb page, but have difficulty with the constant ‘sell,sell’ paradigm of social media and pretty much everywhere you look.
