Event description

📅 Date: Thursday 11 SEPTEMBER 2025

🕰️ Time: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM (AEST)

📍 Location: Online (Zoom)

🎙️Topic: Technology versus tradition: Physiotherapy video consultations for managing knee osteoarthritis.

Access to physiotherapy for knee osteoarthritis care can be difficult for people who are geographically isolated, reside in areas where services are scant or have problems travelling to see a physiotherapist in-person. Videoconferencing presents a viable option for delivery of physiotherapy care but it is unknown if video-delivered physiotherapy is safe, clinically effective or cost-effective compared to in-person care. This webinar will discuss the findings of the PEAK trial- a non-inferiority clinical trial that compared videoconferencing to in-person care for people with knee osteoarthritis.

🗣️ Presented by: Rana Hinman

Rana is a physiotherapist, Professor, NHMRC Investigator (Leadership Level 2) Fellow and Deputy Director of the Centre for Health, Exercise & Sports Medicine at the University of Melbourne. Her research focuses on musculoskeletal health, primarily osteoarthritis, of the hip and knee joints. Her expertise is in non-drug non-surgical treatment strategies for osteoarthritis, particularly exercise therapy. Rana’s research is also focused on strategies to support positive behaviour change in people with chronic musculoskeletal conditions, as well as the evaluation and implementation of remote models of service delivery, including telehealth.
