Event description

Got a great story about life in or around Forbes Shire? We know you do! And want to share it with the world through our Wenzday Project? Absolutely! Then take a page from Paul Wenz's book and just start writing, just like he did in the early 20th century.

First Wenzday in Forbes: August 18, 2025

Paul Wenz was a truly fascinating character from the Galari-Lachlan Valley. He was a wool producer, pioneering irrigator, world traveler, adventurer, amateur photographer, water dowser, avid reader, husband to Hettie, proud Frenchman, and, importantly, called "Australia's first multicultural writer."

Join us on August 18, 2025, which would have been his birthday, for our inaugural Wenzday as we celebrate Paul Wenz's life, times, and legacy.

Dr Merrill Findlay will be on hand to guide us through the significant Wenz Collection housed at the Forbes Museum; and outline the upcoming creative writing workshops and book binding workshop.
