Meet Me at the Altar

Throughout Scripture, the altar was the place of encounter. It was where priests ministered before God, where sacrifices were offered, where repentance was expressed, where covenants were renewed, and where heaven met earth. The altar was never merely a structure, it was the meeting place between God and His people.

Jesus Christ, our Great High Priest, fulfilled every sacrifice when He offered Himself upon the cross, His altar, for the redemption of humanity. Because of His finished work, the veil has been torn away, and we are invited to come boldly into the presence of God. Through Him, we have become "a kingdom and priests to serve His God and Father" (Revelation 1:6) and "a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation" (1 Peter 2:9).

As His royal priesthood, we are called to live lives continually surrendered upon the altar, not as dead sacrifices, but as living ones (Romans 12:1). It is at the altar that burdens are exchanged for peace, striving gives way to surrender, wounds find healing, and ordinary lives become vessels for extraordinary purpose. It is where destinies are birthed, faith is refined, and hearts are transformed in the presence of God.

Meet Me at the Altar is an invitation to return to that sacred place of encounter. It is a call to lay down every burden, every fear, every distraction, and every false identity before the Lord. Come and rediscover the beauty of His presence, hear His voice afresh, and allow Him to rekindle a fervent spirit of prayer within you.
