Before book clubs, before social media, before every spare moment was filled with notifications, there were parlours.
Places where people gathered to share ideas, exchange letters, discuss books, make things with their hands, and enjoy the simple pleasure of good company.
This winter, Bookneck is reviving that tradition.
Join us for the first gathering in our Winter Parlour Series: an intimate evening exploring the lost art of the commonplace book.
Part scrapbook, part literary journal, part cabinet of curiosities, a commonplace book is a place to collect the things that delight, intrigue and inspire you; favourite quotations, observations, poems, sketches, snippets of conversation and fragments of life worth keeping.
Over tea and conversation, we'll create our own commonplace books and begin filling their pages together.
No experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided.
