Wear not Waste (12-25yrs)
Description
Wear Not Waste – Be one of the first to play!
What if a game could change the way we think about clothes?
Every year, Australians throw away more than 200,000 tonnes of clothing. We're now the
highest consumers of textiles per person in the world, and most unwanted clothes end up in
landfill because there are very few ways to recycle them.
Fast fashion isn't slowing down—it's growing faster than ever. But what if we could change
the story?
Wear Not Waste is creating Australia's first educational game designed to help young people
explore the impact of fast fashion through play, conversation and creativity. We're looking
for curious young people to help us test our prototype.
What you'll do
Over around 40 minutes, you'll join a small group (up to four people) and:
● Play the Wear Not Waste Memory Game
● Try a fun game of charades (optional)
● Chat about the "take–make–waste" fashion system
● Make your own sustainability pledge (optional)
● Share your thoughts on camera (optional)
There are no right or wrong answers—just curiosity, conversation and fun.
What to expect
We'll be in a creative art space, sitting around a table in small groups. The Wear Not Waste
friendly facilitator will introduce the activity, explain the game, and guide you through the
experience. If you're someone who likes taking the lead, you'll have plenty of
opportunities—but there's no pressure.
Filming
The Cygnet Film School is also a group of teens documenting the Building Utopia
documentary. Filming is optional—you can choose not to be filmed at any time. Participants
under 18 will need parent or carer consent.
What to bring
Just bring your curiosity and good vibes!
Inclusive: We've designed this experience to be inclusive and welcoming, including for
young people with dyslexia and different learning styles.
Incentives: We will have some snacks at the end.
