Playing Trio @ Ringo Barr
Event description
"Playing Trio'' began naturally as a vehicle to experiment with chordless improvisation, close listening, and reactivity. All three players are accomplished improvisers, incorporating influences from various tendencies within the jazz avant-garde, third-stream, and post-bop into their collective sound, focusing on creative compositions. "Playing Trio" seeks to strip these compositions back to their key components and explode them through improvisation. Playing the works of Charles Mingus, Thelonius Monk, Andrew Hill, and Ornette Coleman, as well as interpreting songbook standards, "Playing Trio" intends to maintain absolute fidelity to the compositions, while being as creative as possible in their exploration.
