  • A minimum upfront payment is required to secure your order. This includes a surcharge, a non-refundable cancellation fee, and a refundable deposit.
  • You’ll receive a notification before each payment attempt. You must ensure sufficient funds are available.

Event description

E ngā pari kārangaranga o te motu, nau mai, haere mai ki te Hui Taumata o Te Wānanga Ihorangi. He wānanga whakawhiti reo tēnei e tūhura ai ētahi kura o te whakamāori, o te whakapākehā. 

This August, Te Wānanga Ihorangi will host our annual two-day Hui Taumata symposium, where we’ll explore the kaupapa of whakawhiti reo with a panel of expert kaikōrero. 

The symposium is a full-immersion context and all kaikōrero will be sharing in the medium of te reo Māori.

We are excited to welcome the following speakers:

  • Ruth Smith – Ngāti Kōhuru, Te Aitanga-a-Māhaki 

  • Greg Koia – Ngāti Porou, Te Whānau a Apanui

  • Dr Hona Black – Ngāi Tūhoe, Te Whānau a Apanui, Ngāti Tūwharetoa

  • Tāmati Waaka – Ngāti Pūkeko, Ngāti Awa, Ngāi Tūhoe, Te Whānau a Apanui

  • Rev’d Dr Te Hira Paenga – Ngāti Porou, Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Kahungungu

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I bring my tamariki? Unfortunately, we are unable to provide tickets for tamariki (except for breastfed babies who are welcome to come).

I have dietary requirements, can you cater for these? Yes, just make sure to let us know when you purchase your ticket.

I can only make certain days/times, can I buy a single-day ticket? We are only offering 2 day tickets this year.

Do I need a physical ticket to get into the event? No, we’ll have a list of registered attendees at the door. 

When will the full programme be available? We’ll release the full schedule closer to the event date.
