Event description

Human Rights Watch and the Australian Human Rights Institute at UNSW Sydney are pleased to present a panel discussion exploring athletes’ rights as human rights. This event will be held against the backdrop of what's set to be the biggest women's football tournament yet, the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Speakers include former Socceroo, broadcaster and human rights activist Craig Foster; and Co-Chief Executive at Professional Footballers Australia and former Matildas captain Kate Gill. The panel, moderated by the Director of Global Initiatives at Human Rights Watch Minky Worden, will discuss the human rights context of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, as well as issues of safety, accessibility, equity, and more.
