Human Waves
Event description
Waves of people… waves of sound…
Let Human Waves carry you through the vivid diversity of Australia’s migrant history, our common bond and one of our greatest assets.
This new major work was commissioned by Sydney Philharmonia Choirs in 2020 from two of Australia’s most beloved artists, Tamara-Anna Cislowska (librettist) and Elena Kats-Chernin AO (composer). Experience it in Western Sydney for the first time in Blacktown’s historic Bowman Hall, updated with a new movement telling a Western Sydney story, and with ARIA award-winning Cislowska and Kats-Chernin at their scintillating best on piano.
This momentous event also offers a chance to get closer to the members of your own local symphonic choir, River City Voices, as we share songs connected with our own heritages.
Conductors: Dr Sarah Penicka-Smith | Dr Philip Eames
Piano: Kevin Wang
