Join us for a special evening of music, culture, and connection as we welcome Biruany Huni Kuin and Txana Tuwe Huni Kuin, respected spiritual leaders of the Huni Kuin people from the Brazilian Amazon. Through traditional songs, contemporary music, storytelling, and ceremony, Biruany and Tuwe offer a beautiful opportunity to experience the living traditions of one of the Amazon's largest Indigenous nations.

Set beneath the gardens and evening sky of Rhythm Seed Farm, this gathering invites us into a spirit of celebration, reciprocity, and cultural exchange. The evening will include live Huni Kuin music, an optional Hapé offering, and an Indigenous artisan market featuring handmade jewelry, textiles, and sacred items created by members of their community. This gathering is family-friendly and open to all ages.

About the Huni Kuin

The Huni Kuin, meaning "The True People," are an Indigenous nation living in the Brazilian state of Acre and along the border of Peru. Part of the Pano linguistic family, they are renowned for their rich traditions of music, storytelling, ceremonial practice, visual arts, and deep ecological knowledge. With a population of more than 25,000 people across more than 100 villages, they are one of the largest Indigenous nations in Brazil.

Despite generations of colonization, land theft, forced labor, and cultural suppression, the Huni Kuin have continued to revitalize and strengthen their traditions. Today, many of their leaders travel internationally to share their music, wisdom, and culture while building alliances that support Indigenous sovereignty and the protection of the Amazon rainforest.

Biruany Huni Kuin

Biruany Huni Kuin is a respected spiritual leader, musician, and advocate for Indigenous women's leadership from Novo Futuro Village in the Brazilian Amazon. Representing a collective of female spiritual leaders, she guides ceremonies and shares ancestral knowledge rooted in healing, prayer, and community. Biruany is recognized as one of the first Huni Kuin women to publicly lead traditional ceremonies, helping expand opportunities for women while honoring the integrity of her people's traditions. Today she travels internationally sharing Huni Kuin music, culture, and wisdom.

Txana Tuwe Huni Kuin

Txana Tuwe Huni Kuin is a respected spiritual leader and musician raised in Novo Futuro Village. Having trained for many years with his elders, he carries the songs, teachings, and ceremonial traditions of his people with humility and devotion. Through international travel, music, and cultural exchange, he continues building bridges between communities while advocating for Indigenous rights and the preservation of Huni Kuin culture.

All proceeds from this gathering go directly to Biruany Huni Kuin, Txana Tuwe Huni Kuin, and their community in support of Indigenous cultural preservation, economic sovereignty, and the continuation of Huni Kuin traditions. Your attendance directly helps support their ongoing work sharing their music, teachings, and stewardship of the Amazon rainforest.

About Rhythm Seed Farm

Rhythm Seed Farm is a nonprofit urban farm and community gathering space in Northeast Portland dedicated to seed stewardship, regenerative agriculture, and community resilience. Surrounded by gardens, flowers, and evening birdsong, it provides a beautiful setting for an intimate evening of music, storytelling, and cultural exchange.
