If you are looking to explore a pathway into kitchen work, cooking for aged care or disability or looking to kickstart your food service career, this course is for you! With our experienced hospitality facilitator, you will learn a range of theory and practical skills to start you on your pathway to further study or employment.

Our Community Learning facilitators have industry experience and knowledge to help you safely and successfully take the next step, whatever your current work-life needs, background, age or focus.

To access this course for free you must be a South Australian resident (or hold a valid work or study visa), aged 18 years or older and preparing for work or study, and not enrolled in school or a Flexible Learning Options program.

The 5 sessions will be held on 27-Feb, 6-Mar, 20-Mar, 27-Mar, & 3-Apr.
(No class Monday 13-Mar due to public holiday)
Each Monday class will run from 9:30am to 1:30pm.

The course topics include:

Safety in a commercial kitchen
Food safety training & knowing safe temperatures for food
Basic techniques in food preparation
Correct storage of equipment, chemicals and food
Using commercial ovens, dishwashers and more!

Our Community Learning mentors and trainers are there to support you every step of the way. We treat you as an individual. We will help you to feel confident and empowered, and ready to take the next steps in your learning journey or path to employment.

We will assess your reading and numeracy skills before you start to identify any supports you may need, and to be sure that this is the right course for you.
