Heathcote Valley Garden Ramble
Description
Step into a day of nature, creativity and community at the Heathcote Valley Garden Ramble. Local residents are generously opening their garden gates in support of Heathcote Valley School and its Garden to Table program. Whether you’re a passionate gardener, or just up for a day of exploring the area, this family-friendly event has something for everyone.
The Garden Ramble will be raising funds for Heathcote Valley School’s amazing “Garden to Table” program, empowering tamariki to grow, harvest, prepare and share seasonal and affordable food.
Thanks to our wonderful event sponsor Ahmad Sultani from Ray White Ferrymead. This support covers all the costs of putting on this event, and means that 100% of your ticket price will go directly to the school.
Tickets are priced at $20, free for children under 16. Gardens will be open from 10am-4pm, and your ticket and brochure with maps & addresses can be collected from Heathcote Valley School from 9am on November 21st.
For enquiries about the event, or for sponsorship opportunities please email gardenramble@hvs.school.nz.

FAQs
- What happens if it rains?
We have our fingers crossed for a fine spring day! But if weather means we can't go ahead on Saturday November 21st, the Garden Ramble will be held on Sunday November 22nd instead.
If we're really unlucky and both days aren't possible then we will liaise with our garden owners about a replacement date and let you know.
- Do we need to visit the gardens in a particular order?
No! You are free to visit the gardens in any order you choose between 10am and 4pm.
We are expecting that the gardens closest to the school are likely to be the busiest ones early in the day, so if you want a quieter visit you may want to collect your program and start at the northern end of the valley.
- Where can we park?
Street parking is available outside the school on Bridle Path, and further spaces off close to the school gates on Station Road. Parking at the top of Bridle Path close to the Gondola tends to get quite busy on weekend mornings.
Some of our gardens have limited parking outside the properties, but these are located about a 5-minute walk from the school. If you need to be able to park close to properties then just ask us when you pick up your program in the morning and we'll help you out.
- Can we get there by public transport?
Yes! Heathcote Valley is well served by the 8 bus. There are stops outside the school and all our gardens are within a 10-minute walk of a bus stop on this route.
The 155 route also travels along Bridle Path past Heathcote Valley School, and most gardens are with a 5-minute walk of the bus stops for this route.
- Will there be plants for sale?
Yes, there will be some plants for sale at the school (largely seedlings from Garden to Table) and also some gardens may have items along the way. If you want to donate plants to sell, please let us know.
- What do we need to bring?
Hat, sunscreen and sunglasses (hopefully!)
Water bottle - this can be refilled at the school or near the Heathcote Domain playground
Reusable coffee cup - if you want a takeaway coffee rom our fabulous year 8 Barista team
Cash for plant sales along the way
A pen or pencil to keep track of all the inspiring ideas!
