Description

Our purpose:

  • Raising Awareness: Educating the public about the prevalence of youth suicide and the factors contributing to it.

  • Reducing Stigma: Breaking down the stigma associated with mental health issues and suicide, encouraging open dialogue.

  • Community Support: Bringing together those affected by suicide, providing a sense of community and mutual support. A reminder that YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

  • Promoting Resources: Highlighting available resources and support systems for mental health and suicide prevention, among others to promote the wellbeing of our community.

  • Memorializing Loved Ones:  Honoring and remembering those who have lost their lives to suicide, offering comfort to their families and friends.

Registration:

Same-day registration will be available if you would like to bring someone with you. T-shirts are only guaranteed for participants who register before the event.

Schedule:

8:30 Check-in starts

9:10 Welcome and panel presentation

9:45 Walk begins!

10:30 Food will be available for everyone

10:40 Yoga/Stretching session

11:00 Raffles will begin

12:00 Event ends

Note: Family activities and resource tables will be available for the whole duration of the event.

Route: 

Liberty Community Plaza boasts an amazing walking track, and that's where our event will take place! We're encouraging everyone to complete three laps (1 mile), but feel free to walk as much as you want.

  • Memorial Area: You are welcome to bring a photo (no larger than 4”x6”) of your loved one to create a memory sign, placed at the beginning of the walk.​

Don’t forget sunscreen, hats, and comfortable clothes and shoes!

  • Is the event free?

    100% free, we just want those having mental health challenges to feel the support of our community and for the community to learn more about how to be supportive.

  • Can someone join me if they didn’t register before the event?

    Yes, same-day registration is available.

  • Can I come to the event to cheer on family and friends even if I am not walking?

    Of course! You can enjoy some food and resources mean while.​

  • Can I volunteer?

  • Is the event wheelchair accessible?

    Yes, the track has wheelchair access.

  • Can I register on the day of the event?

    Yes, but advance registration is highly encouraged to ensure you receive a t-shirt. 

  • Will there be refreshments and food at the event?

    Yes, there will be food, drinks, and refreshments, all free!

  • Are pets allowed?

    Only service dogs are allowed. Please leave your pets at home.

  • Do I have to track my time?

    No, you are free to walk at your own pace and as much as you like. The purpose of this event is to be in community, support one another and enjoy walking together!

  • Do I have to walk a specific distance to get my shirt, and food, or enter the raffle?

    No, you can walk as much as you like. But you will need to register to make sure you get a t-shirt on the day of the event.

  • When will I get my shirt?

    During check-in, which begins at 8 am.

  • Do I have to donate to participate?

    No, but donations are welcome on the day of the event or online
