Hypnotic State with Dinosaur Beard & Lovesick

Don’t miss a night of raw energy with three local bands lighting up Creatures of Habit Bar. Headlined by Hypnotic State, the band describes themselves as four ex lovers, a pack of cigarettes and some rock and roll.

Dinosaur Beard evoke a-nostalgic post-punk trip to the dive bars of 00’s /noughties New York, filtered through the lens of Australian modernity. Their sound balances stark intimacy with melodic drive. Dinosaur Beard have recently been recognised by international media outlets as a talented post-punk group emerging into something nuanced, melodic, and intellectually rich. Music that feels nostalgic while breaking new ground at the same time. Their songwriting has been praised for its emotional clarity and clever construction, creating songs that are beautifully melodic, distinctive, and quietly unconventional.

Opening the night, LOV3SICK are a Melbourne alternative rock band that blend the dark moody edge of post-punk with the vibrant pulse of new wave, crafting a sound that’s equal parts raw and anthemic. Channeling the spirit of bands like The Cure and Joy Division, their music fuses gritty guitars, pulsing basslines, synth-driven energy and powerful female vocals. Their songs explore themes of love, loss and longing.

Together, this lineup dives deep into the modern evolution of post-punk and rock n roll. Expect atmosphere, attitude, and a night of great local talent.
