I Just Want to Dance with Words

Event description

The first season was a near sell out. This return season will DEFINITELY BOOK OUT EARLY! Book now!

“My intention is to dance with words,” wrote Robert Walser close to a century ago.

What the audience have said:

"With a few elements of set and costume Howard creates a little world in which naivety and profundity illuminate and intrigue the audience. Howard's performance is engaging, empathetic and at times mesmeric as he breathes life into a daisy-chain of short stories."  - Patrick Dickson

And from Facebook

"Fabulous. Stage craft is so extraordinary." - Folly Gleeson

"This truly is a FOMO moment - You will absolutely regret missing this if you don't use the opportunity - one of the most unique theatre experiences you will ever see - incredibly well performed." - Graeme Freedman

"It is brilliant! Mesmerising! So cleaver." - Jennifer James

In the Director Adrian Guthrie’s words, “To dance with words is exactly what Walser achieves; he offers a mischievous and ironic lightness that we can share in Howard’s performance. He disrupts the sentimental with the ridiculous and we let ourselves go in his onrush of images and eddies of reflection, gasp at the twists and turns, and risk a glimpse of the sublime.”

Murrah Hall has survived the travails of 120 years – including recent bushfires – to provide audiences for this production a triple treat - not only a theatre delicacy, but also new comfort with raked seating for better viewing and improved acoustics, thanks to a recent Culture Infrastructure grant by Create NSW.
