It’s My P***y and I’ll Cry If I Want To - By PIP, follows one chaotic night and its devastating aftermath as a trans man and a cis woman collide in a club, their intoxicating attraction spiralling into confession, manipulation, and the fragile politics of disclosure. What begins as a charged encounter unravels into a brutal reckoning with identity, class, trauma, and truth, where personal history becomes weaponry. Through shifting power and raw intimacy, the play unravels into a fierce examination of the masks we wear to survive and the violence of being seen. A jagged, electric two-hander about desire, shame, and the cost of reaching for connection in a world built to deny it.
The 16th Street Directors Apprenticeship culminates in a showcase presenting each student’s original work - a final project that champions our directors as they demonstrate their unique interpretive vision, seamlessly combining independent practice, professional development and collaborative rehearsal experience.

Cast and Creative Team
Pippa Thoroughgood (PIP) - Director/Playwright
Pippa (PIP) is a proud Transfem playwright and theatre-maker from regional Australia. She has been creating works since 2017, working primarily as a director and playwright. In 2022 she established ‘All’s One Theatre’ with the aim of exploring the art of adaptation, bringing classic European works to a modern audience. All’s One premiered with a production of “Ghosts” by Henrik Ibsen, adapted and directed by Pip, to great critical acclaim. Her experience in adaptation consists of many classic theatrical staples, beginning with “A Doll’s House” also by Ibsen and most recently with “the Seagull” by Anton Chekhov. Her acting credits include; Feste, Twelfth Night (Whale Chorus), Kay/Konstantin, The Seagull (All’s One Theatre), Friend, Poems of a Transsexual Nature (the Trans Theatre Festival, Green Door Theatre). Her first published work was through “Intersection: Dawn”, the 2024 iteration of the Intersection short play festival at the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP), it was titled “I Really Like You (or; Pen, Paper, Subway Cookies, Legal Studies and Everything That Conspired For Us To Find Each Other)”.
Hannah Simms - Actor
Hannah is a neurodivergent artist based in Naarm/Melbourne and a graduate of 16th Street Actors Studio. She is the recipient of a 2026 Hansen Graduate role with Red Stitch Theatre Company, a program supporting outstanding emerging Australian talent. Her recent screen credit, Westgate, directed by Adrian Ortega (Cerulean Blue, 2019), premiered at the 2025 Melbourne International Film Festival, marking her second feature role. Hannah made her feature debut in Voices in Deep, directed by ADG-nominated Jason Raftopoulos (West of Sunshine, 2017), which premiered at MIFF in 2023, screened internationally, and is now streaming on Amazon Prime. Hannah’s practice is a vivid exploration of the behavioural and psychological landscapes of character, grounded in dramaturgical analysis, creative inquiry, and a love for storytelling in collaboration.
Cynda Jace Beare - Actor
Cynda Jace Beare is an award winning Palawa performer, playwright and poet, and an alumnus of the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts and TheatreiNQ's The Bridge Project. In 2025 he wrote and directed EQUALS for Midsumma Festival and was shortlisted for the Lord Mayor's Creative Writing Award. He was then the recipient of the Melbourne Fringe Award for Best Emerging Indigenous Artist, and in 2026 the Green Room Award for Outstanding Writing in Independent Theatre, both for Poems of a Transsexual Nature presented by Deadly Fringe and developed as part of Melbourne Theatre Company's Cybec Electric and La Mama Theatre's 2025 Residencies. Cynda focuses on presenting stories by and for trans people, mob, and the regional communities he comes from.

Alex Chiarelli - Intimacy Coordinator
Alex Chiarelli is a Melbourne/ Naarm based actor and intimacy coordinator. Having graduated from 16th Street actors studio in 2024, she has found passion in working as an Intimacy Coordinator. Priding herself in creating a safe and collaborative space for actors, allowing them to build their confidence and knowledge around their own boundaries to assist in making truthful intimate moments for stage and screen. Recent credits are, The Blue Room (stage), Lavender (short film), The Good Husband (Short film), Just a Taste (Short Film), Dingo (Short Film). Alex strives to continue training and developing her skills to ensure she can be adaptive and provide the best support to her actors and fellow creatives when developing intimate moments for stage and screen.

Brigette Jennings - Stage Manager Mentor
Brigette is a stage manager and theatre-maker based in Naarm (Melbourne). Studying at Deakin University, she has been performing, working on stage and backstage since 2014 in school & community theatre. Brigette often works with children's theatre shows, most recently touring with Bluey’s Big Play around Australia and Europe.
