I'm Every Woman: Writing strong female characters with Sasha Wasley

Whether your female character is a warrior, a princess, a stay at home mum or a CEO, you want her to be memorable, complex, flawed and (at least eventually) empowered. So, how do you strike the right note with today's discerning and politically aware readers?

In this masterclass, Sasha will take you on a deep dive into archetypes, gender, intersectionality and generation when it comes to writing female protagonists. We'll do post-mortems on some famous female characters, interrogate roles and stereotyping, and try some fascinating activities around developing your own complex FMCs.

About the presenter

Sasha Wasley has been a successful published author for almost a decade and has written 18 novels. Her works include a number of bestselling and award-winning novels, such as Spring Clean for the Peach Queen, Snapshots from Home and the Alice England Mysteries. Before becoming an author, she completed a PhD in feminist literature, was a university lecturer in sociology, and freelance copywriter. Sasha also works as a private writing mentor and writing course facilitator, delivering clarity and strategies for emerging writers of fiction across a range of genres. Sasha has a passion for social justice and righting political and societal wrongs through her fiction.
