Event description

Join artist Sam Cranstoun for a hands-on workshop inspired by the humble yet iconic breezeblock.

In this creative session, participants will explore the rich design legacy of this familiar building material — transforming it from everyday architecture into delicate works of art. Guided by Sam, you’ll use a combination of drawing, cutting, folding, and sculptural techniques to reimagine classic breezeblock patterns as intricate paper sculptures.

Through this process, you’ll uncover the beauty hidden in the ordinary, creating origami-like forms that celebrate the artistry of the domestic environment.

Whether you’re an artist, designer, or simply curious about finding inspiration in the built world around you, this workshop offers a chance to slow down, look closely, and elevate the everyday.

What to wear: Please wear closed-in shoes and workshop-friendly clothing.

Materials: All Materials are provided.

The workshop will include a 15 minute morning tea break to bring a snack and socialise with the other attendees.
