Description

ICEBERGS CLUB 🧊

A facilitated introduction to cold immersion, breath regulation and getting comfortable with discomfort.

Icebergs Club is designed for people who are curious about cold exposure but don't necessarily know where to begin.

This isn't about seeing who can stay in the longest.

Each Saturday, I take a small group of up to six people through the principles behind cold immersion, how your body responds to the cold, and how to use your breathing to stay calm when your nervous system is telling you to get out.

I'm Jake, founder of Recovery Culture. My background is in clinical healthcare, and I've spent years working with recovery practices and helping people become more comfortable using them safely and practically.

My goal with Icebergs Club is to remove the intimidation around cold exposure and create a space where you can learn, ask questions and challenge yourself without feeling pressured to perform.

During the session we'll cover:

  • What happens during the initial cold-shock response

  • Breathing principles before and during immersion

  • How to enter the water calmly and safely

  • Recognising when discomfort is normal and when it's time to get out

  • How long you actually need to stay in

  • Warming up and recovering afterwards

  • How you might use cold exposure as part of your own recovery routine

What to bring

Bring swimmers, a towel and a clean pair of socks to put on afterwards. Keeping your feet warm makes the post-plunge experience considerably nicer.

Forgot your towel? No stress, towel hire is available for $3.

Come reasonably hydrated and try not to load yourself up with coffee, energy drinks or pre-workout immediately beforehand. Cold immersion already creates a strong physiological response, so we want you arriving relatively settled rather than heavily stimulated.

If you take prescribed stimulant medication, don't alter or skip your prescribed medication just for the session we're talking about avoiding unnecessary extra stimulants such as large coffees, energy drinks or pre-workout.

THE CULTURE

You don't have to prove anything here.

Twenty seconds can be a win.
Two minutes can be a win.
Deciding today isn't the day can also be a win.

The point is learning to notice your body's response, regulate yourself and make a conscious decision rather than fighting against the experience.

6 places only each Saturday.
Saturdays • 9am to 10am
Donation based contribute what you felt the experience was worth afterwards.
