Working It Out invites you to the IDAHOBIT Breakfast & Dorothies Awards 2026.

This event is the largest LGBTIQA+ awards event in Lutruwita/Tasmania, and we would love for you, your colleagues and your friends to join us in celebration and solidarity!

Come along, show your support, and meet with other organisations and likeminded people.

Tickets include a full buffet breakfast, Dorothies Award presentations, and the opportunity to hear from multiple guest speakers addressing our theme for the 2026: 'Excellence in LGBTIQA+ Inclusion in Family and Sexual Violence Services & Programs'.

You will also be the first to hear the announcement of our 2027 theme.

Event ticket sales close at midnight, on Monday, May 11th 2026 (unless sold out).

Please purchase early to avoid disappointment. We have limited tickets this year to ensure an optimal experience on the day.

ABOUT IDAHOBIT DAY

May 17th each year is International Day Against Prejudice & Discrimination towards Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans and gender diverse people and people with Intersex characteristics. This date was chosen to commemorate the day of the World Health Organisation’s decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.

IMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION

Emotional distress and sensory overwhelm:

Please note that this year, the theme of our awards may be particularly distressing for some. We ask that all attendees take care of themselves and one another, and note that the content may be triggering. We will provide content warnings on the day, but if this topic is particularly difficult for you please consider bringing a support person, or avoiding the event if necessary.

At any event, there is the chance that attendees may feel overwhelmed or uncomfortable. During this event, we have set up a quiet room with a WIO team member for you to retreat to should you feel like you need some time away from the group. This will be signposted on the day, and pointed out by our event hosts in the introduction. Please note that this space will still be within earshot of the presentations.

Alcohol:

Please note that the venue contains a bar, but alcohol will not be served, and no alcohol branding will be visible.

Photography:

For the privacy and safety of all guests, photography inside the venue will not be permitted other than in the officially signposted photo zone. Everyone will have the opportunity to access this area if they choose to, and entry into the Photo Zone will imply permission for your photo to be taken and shared on social media and other communications channels. There will be signage on the day, and the zone will be clearly marked.

Allergies and intolerances:

Please complete the details regarding dietary requirements and allergies for your comfort and safety. Please note that the venue has a small kitchen and cross contamination may occur. For more details about allergy protocols or to discuss in detail, please reach out to us before purchasing your ticket.

Attendees will all be asked to avoid perfumes and heavily scented products for the event, but WIO cannot ensure compliance with that request. The venue is large with good ventilation and easy outside access should you need it.
