About IDEA Wine Movement
The IDEA wine movement is a collection of like-minded producers working towards
the future of Australian fine wine. The collection promotes and champions Australian fine wine, communicating a clear vision of where they see the future for both trade and
consumers. While no two producers are exactly alike, they all hold the following
tenets to be true:
Identity – They believe wines should have a clear sense of identity that is consistent
across vintages. This may come from the specific origin, such as vineyard or region,
or be due to intrinsic winemaking choices. Regardless, the wines should speak for
themselves and consistently have characteristics that make them identifiable.
Devotion – They believe winemaking and viticulture is a craft. They are devoted to
these crafts, that know no bounds. They strive, in their devotion to the craft, to
expand their skills, knowledge, and capability with each vintage and each wine.
Epicurean – They believe wine is an epicurean pursuit. Wine should be delicious, first
and foremost. Wines should be made for real enjoyment; composed, refreshing, and
texturally engaging. They should complement and not compete with the culinary arts.
Ambition – They are ambitious and believe in the future of Australian wine. Australia is a place with unique landscapes, climates, and culture and should be part of the global fine wine discourse.
