Artspace is one of Australia’s leading contemporary art institutions and a key platform for artistic development, experimentation and international exchange.
Established by artists in 1983, Artspace has grown into a dynamic institution bringing together exhibitions, commissions, studios, residencies, research, publishing, public programs, learning, archives and international partnerships.
Artists remain at the centre of the organisation. Through an interconnected, multi-platform approach, Artspace provides the time, space, resources, relationships and opportunities for artists to experiment, take risks and develop their practices over time. The redevelopment of The Gunnery has enabled Artspace to move beyond a collection of individual programs towards a larger ecosystem of artistic support, where artists can move between studios, exhibitions, commissions, publications, residencies and international opportunities throughout their careers.
Artspace is deeply committed to exchange across Australia and the Asia-Pacific, connecting local practice with international conversations through sustained collaboration and dialogue. By investing in artists, ideas and long-term relationships, we create the conditions in which new work can emerge, artistic careers can grow and contemporary culture can be shaped.
