IDEATE Summit 2026
Description
Join us at the second annual IDEATE Summit.
Registrations close 3pm on Thursday 27 August so that attendee numbers can be passed on to our caterer. If you're hoping to register last-minute, please contact director@ideate.community to let us know what day/s you want to attend, and any dietary or accessibility requirements. We will do our best to make this year's summit a good experience for you.
IDEATE — inclusion, diversity and equity in Australian technology education — is a collaboration of Australian universities and industry partners. We are committed to:
Inclusive courses: Modify technology courses, with a focus on introductory courses, to make them more inclusive.
Interdisciplinary: Develop and/or promote interdisciplinary programs combining technology with other fields.
K-12 outreach: Engage with outreach programs for K-12 students and teachers to build a more diverse pipeline of students.
Recruitment: Recruit to increase staff and student diversity.
Belonging: Build and nurture belonging among diverse staff and students.
Diversity includes women; First Nations; LGBTIQA+; neurodivergence; culturally and linguistic diversity; disability; rural, regional & remote areas; and low socio-economic status.
The Summit brings together heads of schools and colleges teaching computer science, engineering, and related technology courses at Australian universities; associate deans of education at those universities; DEI program expertise; and industry partner expertise. Expect to see around 50 - 100 people who are leaders in their field, and committed to working together to improve DEI across technology education and in the tech industry.
We'll have some great workshops plus a keynote from Catherine Gill at CIC Northeastern - announcements coming soon! To make this environment as collaborative as possible for those in the room, and to encourage open discussion and problem-solving, we won't be live-streaming this summit. Sessions are open to both IDEATE partners and non-partner attendees.
