Event description

In collaboration with RDA Tropical North, H2Q Hydrogen Queensland is proud to be presenting an event on Identifying Opportunities for Hydrogen in FNQ.

This includes the regional opportunity presented by the utilisation of Hydrogen as a power source in heavy equipment (agriculture, marine, advanced manufacturing and transport), and to further explore Hydrogen demand from within the region. Hydrogen as a key to producing nitrogenous fertilizer is also something we think should be of interest to the Cairns region.

Hydrogen industry development continues to have strong support from the Queensland and Federal Governments and align with current initiatives to promote the region as being, sustainable, green and clean and smart, which will allow for regional industry growth, attract and retain a skilled workforce and develop economic resilience.

We are very fortunate to have secured three speakers from the region; Prof. Nico Adams from the College of Science and Engineering at JCU who was instrumental in developing a Hydrogen industry cluster in Victoria. Jim Bitomsky from Kleinhardt Business Consultants will provide a brief case study on Bell’s Bay Tasmania Hydrogen aspirations, while Gareth Phillips from the Australian Marine Park Tourism Operators will provide an update on the quest to convert reef boats to Hydrogen.

Further to the recent H2Q Regional Roadshow held in Cairns late August, H2Q CEO Heidi Breen will provide an update on the outcomes of the international Hydrogen Connect summit held in Brisbane in September. The conference identified significant opportunities in a firm Japanese export market, stimulating domestic demand, understanding and managing risk for investors and policy and legislation support for developing new business and new projects.

The exploration session on the 15th November aims to confirm the appetite for Hydrogen in our region, identify potential ‘low hanging fruit’ and determine next steps to drive industry development. We can't wait to see you there.
