International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD)

Celebrate International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD) with our Given the Chance team!

IDPWD aims to promote community awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and this year’s theme is ‘United in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with and by persons with disabilities.’

On Monday 4 December, join our Given the Chance team to find out about the employment opportunities created through the Chance for All, an employment program for people living with disability.

About the event

  • When: 12pm to 3pm, Monday 4 December 2023
  • Where: Father Tucker’s

About: Bring your lunch and hear about Chance for All and disability employment in Australia (12pm-1pm).

Chance for All is an employment program for people living with a disability or who have a long term physical or mental health condition. The program provides professional employment opportunities and career pathways for talented candidates.

From 1pm, watch the must-see documentary, Rising Phoenix, while enjoying snacks provided by the Given the Chance Team.

Rising Phoenix follows nine Paralympians in the run-up to the Paralympics in Rio in 2016. Starring Tatyana McFadden, Bebe Vio and Jonnie Peacock, the documentary traces the history of the Paralympics to be the third biggest sporting event on the planet and has changed the way the world thinks about disability, diversity & human potential.
