IDX SYD - Celebrating World Industrial Design Day: Objects of Emotion
Event description
IDX is celebrating World Industrial Design Day 2024 with a very special exhibition and show and tell night: “Objects of Emotion”. Come celebrate all things industrial design with our passionate community of Industrial Designers.
The theme for this year's WIDD 2024 is ‘Let’s get emotional’ 😄👀😭
So…to tap into our emotional side we’re asking each of you to:
‘Bring an object that evokes an emotional reaction in you. It could be a product that has improved your quality of life or “sparks joy”, perhaps it reminds you of home, or frustrates you beyond belief!
Together we will create a communal exhibition, placing each object in our open gallery. During the event we’ll gather around our metaphorical campfire of objects to share stories of why and how these objects made us feel something.
There’s no restrictions on your choice of product, if you choose something larger than you can carry, print a photo of it and bring that with you.
Join us at Willie the Boatman in St.Peters, to meet up with friends and colleagues and celebrate our community. Ticket includes light refreshments and a drink on arrival.
We live in a world where even the smallest designs around us make us feel something. A world where a designer’s ability to leverage their emotional connection to the spaces around them and to the communities and individuals they design for, makes for better products, services and experiences. We want to dig deeper into the role of emotions in design, and celebrate the feelings that power our global design community forward.
This is an extra special day for us, as it’s IDX’s 2nd birthday! Thank you to everyone who has made these past two years so special. We love this community and look forward to what the future holds.
This event is brought to you in collaboration with Good Design Australia.
"IDX is deeply committed to creating inclusive events that reflect the diversity of our members and the industrial design community. We believe in making sure that all voices are heard, especially those that have been historically underrepresented in the design industry. Considerations for diversity include, but are not limited to, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender and expression, age, career-level, religion, ability, and sexual orientation. We want everyone to feel comfortable and valued in our community and at our events."
