If music be the food of love, play on
Event description
Berrima Singers invites you to an afternoon of late twentieth-century choral music inspired by the incomparable pen of Shakespeare. His poetry stays fresh in popular memory and has inspired composers for hundreds of years. You'll enjoy the jazz lens that George Shearing and Matthew Harris bring, as well as haunting Nordic settings from Nils Lindberg and Jaakko Mäntyjärvi. Rounding out the program will be a few of the well-known madrigals and ditties heard in the soundscape of Will Shakespeare's lifetime, and John Rutter's ever-popular ‘Blow Blow Thou Winter Wind’.
Featuring special guest Michael Turczynski, acclaimed local actor who will be reading some of the songs and sonnets.
There will be an interval - and please join us for afternoon tea afterwards
