LOUIS SHARPE
Louis Sharpe brings curiosity, energy and a genuine love of music to everything he does. A proud Woden Valley resident, he shares life with his wife Alina, a violist, their son Felix, and Proky the cat. Canberra has been home for more than six years, and it’s here that Louis has built strong connections both on and off the stage.
In 2026, Louis steps into the role of Artistic Director, taking on a broader part in shaping the NCO’s creative direction. His focus is simple: thoughtful programming, meaningful collaborations and concerts that feel welcoming, exciting and relevant to today’s audiences.
Before settling in Canberra, Louis was Music Director of the Eastern Sydney Chamber Orchestra and worked closely with Dr Nicholas Milton AM as Assistant Conductor. He also serves as Assistant Conductor to the Australian World Orchestra, collaborating with Artistic Director Alexander Briger AO and leading international musicians.
As Artistic Director for the 2026 Season, Louis looks forward to building on strong foundations - sharing great music, supporting wonderful artists, and creating performances at Snow Concert Hall and Llewellyn Hall that bring people together.
