IHL Movie Night - RED JOAN

AUSTRALIAN RED CROSS invites you to the IHL Movie Night - a screening of RED JOAN starring Dame Judi Dench.

Tickets are free however we ask that if you register and cannot attend you provide us with as much notice as possible to ensure we can fill the seat.

Monday September 26th is the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons. It is fitting therefore to come together for a screening and post-film discussion of RED JOAN, starring Dame Judy Dench. Judi Dench plays Joan Stanley, a British government civil servant in the 1930s who was working in a top-secret nuclear research facility as part of Britain's nuclear war program. In the film Joan is faced with an impossible question - 'what price would you pay for peace?'

The film is inspired by the true story of Melita Norwood who was arrested in the UK in 1999 at the age of 87 and accused of having been a Soviet spy for nearly 40 years.

Following the film we will be led in discussion by Dr Marianne Hanson and Professor Anthony Cassimatis where we will tackle the moral complexity around Joan's ultimate choice.
