Event description

“a beguiling stew of afro-beat, jazz-rock-inflected postbop, and electro-acoustic noise.” (The Wire)

TL 🤝 j//v

Buoyed by our shared love of improvisation and forward-thinking jazz, Tone List & jade//vision are hosting a cosy night of left-field rhythmic music together in The Corner Room (inside Ode To Sirens).

Influenced by Ornette Coleman, Laurie Anderson, Jon Hassell and afrobeat, Naarm-based quartet I Hold The Lion’s Paw play rhythmic music that joins effected trumpet, voice, polyrhythmic drums & guitar into a psychedelic melting pot. Ahead of outing their latest record, Potentially Interesting Jazz Music, we look forward to a debut west-coast set that grooves and trips in equal measure 💥

Guitarist Adam Halliwell (of Mildlife) and percussionist Phil Stroud met during Phil’s stint in Naarm. Recently returned, this is a rare occasion to experience their musical camaraderie in Walyalup, which draws on similar Fourth World influences alongside ambient, dub and jazz fusion.

Join us earlier in the night and between sets for some mood-setting selections from cash promise.

Tickets $30/$20 via Humanitix with a flexi/accessible pricing option available!
