Thu, 26 Jun, 6pm - 7:30pm AEST

Event description

From the thunderous revelation at Sinai to whispered prophecy, communal song, and an architectural legacy stretching from pre-antiquity to today, this talk explores how 4,000 years of Jewish tradition has been rooted in listening, music-making, and the pursuit of great sound. Together, we’ll trace the profound relationship between acoustics, memory, spirituality, art and built architectural form. Prepare to rediscover Jewish architecture not only as something we see, but as something we hear and feel.

Ilana Razbash is an architect, artist, educator and director of Studio Razbash. She brings nearly a decade of experience creating environments that enrich communities and promote wellbeing. Having worked on public, education, community, and health projects ranging from $3m - $500m, Ilana now offers a bespoke design experience through her practice Studio Razbash, ensuring clients feel truly heard. She is deeply committed to designing spaces that prioritise comfortable acoustics, clarity, and a holistic sensory experience.

Ilana Razbash also hosts Radio Architecture, a weekly plain-language show on Radio Carrum that engages a broad audience in accessible conversations about architecture and design. She frequently contributes to industry speaking panels, talks, publications, research and exhibitions.

Razbash’s debut solo exhibition Architectures in C Major is currently on view at Goldstone Gallery, offering a powerful exploration of architecture, sound, and sacred landscape.

Please arrive at 6pm for a 6.30pm start. The talk will run for approximately one hour.
